Masciarelli Tenute Agricole is one of the most respected wineries in Abruzzo, a region on the east coast of central Italy that has become synonymous with Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Founded by the late Michele Masciarelli, the estate helped elevate the reputation of Abruzzo’s wines on the world stage by combining deep respect for tradition with modern winemaking precision. The Marina Cvetic Riserva is one of their flagship wines, crafted from carefully selected parcels and aged 12–18 months in French oak, reflecting both power and elegance characteristic of top Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo has long been one of my favourite Italian everyday heroes: versatile, food-friendly and generous in flavour. The 2020 Masciarelli Marina Cvetic Riserva takes this up a notch by bringing depth, structure and refinement without losing the regional heart that makes Abruzzo wines so appealing. The combination of dark fruit, herbs and spice, alongside vibrant acidity and velvety tannins, made it a perfect match for lamb dishes — enhancing both the wine and the food without overshadowing either. This is exactly the kind of wine that proves great food and great wine are meant to be enjoyed together.

On the nose, this 2020 Marina Cvetic Riserva shows rich aromas of dark fruits with herbal undertones and sweet spice that feel inviting and complex.
